Painting Workshop

Parents paint under supervision in the garden of the children's hospice

Once a month, an enthusiastic art teacher from Lübeck offers creative painting lessons for “our” affected parents, who in turn can use the two-hour painting workshop as an opportunity to give artistic expression to their creativity, phantasy and feelings.

The painting lessons also give the affected parents a break from their often stressful daily caregiving routine and help them focus on themselves or even rediscover a hobby that they’ve had to set aside due to their child’s illness.

With paint and a brush – and skilled instruction – they create small and large works of art which, for many of them, become cherished mementos from their time at Sternenbrücke.

Painting workshop: Time for creativity, feelings and conversations

Many of “our” parents consider it a gift to be able to participate in the painting workshop and, in this way, to have time for themselves and to chat with other parents in similar situations. Because it is this kind of interaction – when they aren’t preoccupied with taking care of their children – that gives them strength for the road that lies ahead.
