Donations

The Sternenbrücke children's hospice is largely financed by donations and is therefore dependent on the financial support of third parties. The comprehensive care and support of a family in the Sternenbrücke costs around 1,380 euros per day. About 60 percent of the costs, especially for the care of the sick child, are covered by the health and nursing care insurance companies. Since Sternenbrücke not only takes care of the sick child, but also supports the family system in a variety of ways in order to stabilize it in this difficult phase of life, around 40 percent of the costs remain uncovered by the statutory payers. This results in an annual donation requirement of around 2.1 million euros. Therefore, the Sternenbrücke is permanently dependent on the support of committed citizens, companies and foundations.
