On May 1st it was that time again and we opened our doors for the 20th time from 12:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. for numerous interested visitors, who took the opportunity to get to know the Sternenbrücke and its diverse offers better in sunshine and the best weather.

We are pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to support us financially by sending an SMS. This is very simple and allows you to quickly help us to support families with a child with a life-limiting illness.

For the “International Nurses Day” on May 12th, we interviewed Martina, one of our dedicated nursing staff. She talked about her everyday life, how she came to the Sternenbrücke, which strengths are important for her job and how she deals with the topic of grief.

Will we be able to be together next summer? How will we feel the next days of Christmas? Will our sick child still be able to sit up? Grief work is an important pillar of children's hospice work. At the beginning of spring we welcome you with the April issue of our newsletter “Sternenbrücke Aktuell”. We give an insight into a "typical week" in the Sternenbrücke and highlight various offers for our guests and their families.

We are pleased about a new item for sale in our online shop: The children's book "Matti und die Sternenbrücke", written by Ute Nerge and Ulrike Heyn, has been available for purchase since December. The authors describe how to deal with loss, illness, death and grief in an imaginative and child-friendly way – woven into an adventurous, enchanted and at the same time sensitive story.

The 1 May is a very special day at the Sternenbrücke children's hospice: from noon to 6 p.m. we open our doors and welcome everybody who is interested in our work, wants to view our hospice and chat with the Sternenbrücke staff and volunteers.

We celebrated a very special occasion in our garden: one of "our" parental couples said "I do" in the open air. Read about the beautiful moments on this moving day, which the bride and groom shared with family, friends and the staff of the Sternenbrücke.

We are delighted that the renovation works for our Therapy Bath, which had become necessary after more than ten years, were completed. On 23 April 2015 it was opened up again together with "our" families.

It was Friday 17 April 2015: Thanks to the donations we received, we celebrated the grand opening of our Garden of Memory, which had to be extended, with "our" orphaned parents.

On the occasion of our ten-year anniversary, we presented an exhibition about the Sternenbrücke in Hamburg's City Hall from 4 to 14 June. To our great delight, many visitors took this opportunity to find out more about the work we do.

On the occasion of the ten-year anniversary of the Sternenbrücke children's hospice, Hamburg's First Mayor, Olaf Scholz, hosted a senate reception on Tuesday, 28 May 2013, in the mayor hall of Hamburg's City Hall.
