What we do

When a child suffers from a life-shortening illness, families need a place and people who can support them. At the Sternenbrücke children's and youth hospice in Hamburg, we accompany them with compassion and create space for closeness, joie de vivre, and precious moments. Together, we stand by their side so that they do not have to walk their difficult path alone.

Palliative care

At the Sternenbrücke children's and youth hospice, we provide sensitive and varied support to seriously ill young people and their families. Our work covers three key areas.

Support for families and siblings

Siblings, parents, and other caregivers are also a central focus for us. With rituals, celebrations, and opportunities for conversation and interaction, we provide space for exchange and comfort.

Grief counseling and support after loss

Grief counseling begins as soon as a life-shortening illness is diagnosed. We support families throughout the entire course of the illness and beyond the loss, helping them to find new strength.
