Our first grandparents' week

Story Guests & families 09.09.2025

A special premiere

From September 1 to 6, we had the privilege of experiencing a very special premiere at Sternenbrücke: our first Grandparents Week. During this time, we welcomed mainly grandparents with their grandchildren who are suffering from life-shortening illnesses. It was a week full of loving encounters, heartfelt moments, and precious memories.

Time for closeness and shared memories

While the parents were able to spend time with their siblings at home, the week gave the grandparents the opportunity to be there for their grandchildren in a special way. The program was tailored to the needs of our guests: from cozy coffee hours and open opportunities for exchange to soothing pampering treatments and joint excursions to therapy taster sessions and a small photo shoot. Every single moment was marked by encounters, affection, and shared memories.

For many grandparents, it was their first visit to Sternenbrücke. It was all the more moving to see how they appreciated the exchange with other affected individuals, how they strengthened each other, and how lasting connections were formed.

Conversations arose that connected people, and memories that will remain.

Why a grandparents' week?

Grandparents play a special role in families: they provide support, listen, and are often silent companions in everyday life with illness. During Grandparents' Week, they are given time and space to consciously experience their sick grandchildren, draw strength from their own resources, and exchange ideas with other affected individuals.

Every donation counts

With your support, you give affected families security, time and attentive support. Every donation – whether one-off or regular – helps to forge, maintain and continue the bond of life.
