How can I use my estate to do good?

Story Fundraising 16.06.2026

What will remain of us once we are no longer here?

At some point, many people find themselves pondering this question and thinking about how they can make a meaningful impact beyond their own lives. Making a difference – for others, for the future.

When families need support

Since 2003, the Sternenbrücke Children’s Hospice Foundation has been supporting children, teenagers and young adults with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families. In difficult times, the team provides medical care, loving support and emotional comfort. Dignity and quality of life are always at the heart of what we do.

This work is only possible because so many people help out – whether as full-time staff, volunteers or through donations. One special way to get involved is to include Sternenbrücke in your will.

A decision for life – and beyond

A will allows you to decide for yourself what will happen to the legacy you have built up over your lifetime. Without such arrangements, the law of succession will apply. However, if you would also like to leave a legacy to an organisation that is close to your heart, you can make a conscious decision to do so.

There are various ways of doing this:

Every decision is unique and is based on your personal preferences.

Appoint as an heir:

The foundation will handle the entire administration of your estate.

As a member of a community of heirs:

You can include both your loved ones and the Bridge to the Stars.

As a legacy:

You specify a fixed amount or a specific item to be passed on.

I find it comforting that something I’ve done is helping others.

In safe hands

If you appoint Sternenbrücke as your executor, you can rest assured that we will take great care of everything left behind.

A respectful and considerate approach is our top priority at all times.

Creating something lasting

Bequests are a vital pillar of Sternenbrücke’s long-term work. They help us to support and relieve the burden on families with children suffering from life-shortening illnesses – both now and in the future.

As a charitable foundation, Sternenbrücke is exempt from inheritance tax. This means that your estate will go entirely to the families who need support. In this way, something lasting is created: help that has an impact across generations.
